Treat Box

  Every pet loves treats but they come in odd shaped bags, boxes that just won't fit on a shelf, etc... So what do you do? Keep them in a handmade DSH Woodworks treat box!!!! The treat boxes are a great place to keep your pets treats and they look much better than those bags treats come in.

  Each handmade box has woodburned paw prints and a bone handle. By special order I can woodburn your pets name on the bone handle.

Rose box, wood and clay

It has been awhile since I have posted, I have been super busy in the woodshop getting ready for another imadeitmarket show(on top of still building kitchen cabinets for my Mom's kitchen)

  This is the latest piece I have made. This box is made of red oak and the inlay rose is made of clay. I first cut out the rose design on the scroll saw, next fill the cutout with clay and then bake it in the oven. After sanding and glue up the box gets three coats of clear poly witch makes the colors of the clay pop. The box is 9inches long, 7 inches high and 5 inches deep. It would make for a great memory box, photo box, card box, etc...

  I enjoy making the clay inlays even tho it does take ALOT of time. I feel it adds color to the pieces with out just painting on a design, I really don't like to paint wood, it hides the natural beauty of the wood itself.

28 Babies!!!

This past weekend I made 28 baby cutouts(thats 56 feet and 56 hands also) for my luv at Goodeelicious (http://www.goodeelicious.net/)  who has been getting more orders for baby shower center pieces/gifts. Now she will add her magic and off they go to good homes.

Hawaii Five-O box finished

Here are some photos of the Hawaii Five-O box finished. The box is red oak, the inlays were cut out on the scroll saw and then filled in with clay which I baked in the oven.

Work in progress....

This box is for a friend of ours who is turning 50. She is having a birthday party with the theme of Hawaii 5-0 Get it she is turning 50yrs old and everyone coming to the party must wear Hawaiin atire.

The box is red oak and I used the scroll saw to cut out the shapes. I am going to use clay for the inlays again. It should turn out to be very colorful against the red oak.

New piece....Humming bird

 


  Here is my latest piece. As you can see it is a humming bird. I made this piecs as a birthday gift for my Mom. I tried something new with this scroll saw piece, I filled in the coutouts with clay and then baked it in the oven. I learned how to do this from Steve Good(http://www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/). This was my first time trying this method and I think it came out very well. It opens up my mind for many more ideas using this method.

  I also made a video during the making of this piece which I will post later.
